You
know the best thing about introducing a child to the game of golf?
It's the satisfaction you have knowing that golf is a game of
character, played in the great outdoors, that can be played for a
lifetime! At The Refuge, we have the Wee Links--a three hole
course just for juniors to learn the game. And now we have the
Family Fun Five!
The
Family Fun Five is a way for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles,
and juniors to play golf together on the regulation course without
the stress some juniors feel when they are "in the middle of other
adult golfers" they don't know. At The Refuge, the fifth hole
comes back close to the clubhouse and it takes just over an hour to
play the first five holes. So we thought it would be a great
"short course" for families to play together (before the young ones
got too tired from playing nine holes) and you'd be right back at
the clubhouse when you're done.

Course Family Fun Five plaque on the third fairway. |
Working in conjunction with US Kids Golf and the PGA of America,
we've installed plaques (like the one shown above) in the fairways
on the first five holes that will serve as "teeing grounds" for the
younger players. Additionally, we have a new scorecard that's
just for the Family Fun Five--using the measurements from our
existing forward tees as the back tees for juniors plus the new Blue
and Gold tees indicated by the plaques. This gives your junior
golfer a chance to learn how to keep his or her own score the
correct way. We've even installed color-coordinated metal
"buttons" on the cart paths so you know where to stop or drive out
to the new Family Fun Five plaques in your golf cart and not have to
drive around looking for them.
The
cost of the Family Fun Five is another part of the attraction.
Start times for the five-hole round begin approximately 30 minutes
after our normal Sunset Rates begin (just call to check with the
golf shop because the time change seasonally) and the cost is only:
$16 -- One adult and one junior (and this includes one cart for
the two to share)
$5 -- each additional junior walking (maximum of five total players
in a group)
Or, if for example, a mother and father and two children want to
play the Family Fun Five,
then the cost is only $32 for all four (and that includes
two
carts for the foursome) |
