Hole #1…This relatively easy and short opening hole gives you the opportunity to loosen up a bit as you begin your round. A creek guards the left side of this rolling fairway which opens up a bit to the right along the edge of the trees before culminating at a small, gently rolling green with a bunker behind. A quick glance at your scorecard shows that you need not hit driver on this hole and risk starting your round from the trees lining the fairway. Hole #2…Not a wise choice to try and cut the corner on this 90 degree dogleg left which is guarded along the left side by trees and wetland hazards-avoid the left side at all costs! Ideal shot is (Black: 250 yds, Blue: 215 yds, White: 185 yds, and Gold: 165 yds) played toward the last tree on the left beyond the second fairway bunker to be in center of fairway at the dogleg. First bunker on right side of fairway is (Black: 237 yds, Blue: 208 yds, White: 177 yds, and Gold: 157 yds) from the tee, but you must be at least (Black: 215 yds, Blue: 186 yds, White: 152 yds, and Gold: 133 yds) from the tee to get around the dogleg. This semi-large green is to the left and back left by a wetland hazard-beware of the back left pin placement! Hole #3…It is ill advised to try cutting the corner on this hole as the entire left side is lined with wetland hazards and trees from the tee to the green. The ideal tee shot is (Black: 271 yds, Blue: 245 yds, White: 143 yds, and Gold: 185 yds) played to the right center of the fairway, leaving you 150 yards to the green. This deep yet narrow green is large and undulating so check your pin sheet to avoid costly three putts! Hole #4…This short yet tight par 4 has a multiple level fairway and may be drivable for long hitters who don’t mind flirting with two large pot bunkers fronting this small green and two pockets of wetland hazards some 30 feet to the right of the green! Wetland hazards down the right side of this hole dictate the ideal shot to be (Black: 228 yds, Blue: 206 yds, White: 143 yds, and Gold: 102 yds) played toward group of tall trees at end of fairway, leaving 125 yards to the green. Hole #5…This is a short par 3 which is home to a large undulating green guarded by two deep bunkers in front and trees and wetland hazards long, left, and right! A creek lurks in front of the bunkers out of sight form the tees but very much in play if your tee shot is too short! The back right pin placement is tough top get to and the center of the green is always safe. Hole #6…Wetland hazards, trees, and water hazards make it a necessity to find the fairway off this tee, but beware of the lake, which comes into play. Stay short of this water because this hard to get to green gives not advantage to the long hitter. Instead, the ideal play is (Black: 255 yds, Blue: 210 yds, White (a): 175 yds, White (b): 145 yds, and Gold 120 yds) down the middle. The smart golfer makes this a three shot hole, and from 30 yards short of the water which creeps back into play in front of the green. This undulating green is larger than it looks from the fairway, is fronted by water, and is guarded on the right by a large bunker and to the left and behind by wetland hazards. Hole #7…a great par 3, this is home to a slightly undulating green and two tricky bunkers: one at the green and the other short of the putting surface. If you must miss the green, there is more room long and short that left and right. In fact, this one of the few holes where long may be the best place to miss the green. Wetland hazards sneak in along the left side of the green. Beware the overhanging oak tree, as it has been known to catch some wayward tee shots! Hole #8…This is the shortest par 4 on the course played to one of the most undulating greens. The smart tee shot is played (black: 230 yds, Blue: 210 yds, White: 168 yds, and Gold: 132 yds) to the center of the fairway to avoid the water, which lies hidden from the tee and protects the front of the green. Long hitters may be tempted to go for the green, but the risk may be greater than the reward with wetland hazards lining both sides of the hole and a lake and sand at the green. Be sure to check your pin sheet on this hole to avoid three (and possibly four) putts! Hole #9…Don’t let this meandering par 5 catch you off guard! A finger of the lake behind #8 green sneaks its way into the fairway and you mush fly your tee shot (Black: 215 yds, Blue: 165 yds, White (a): 130 yds, White (b): 95 yds and Gold: 70 yds) to avoid it. The best line of play is just left of the large oak on the right side of the fairway. Although this hole is reachable in two for long hitters, watch out for the wetland hazards and trees along the left side from the tee to the green which is elevated with trees left and right, bunkers behind, and sand and water in front (you can’t roll it onto this green). From the large oak tree on the right side of the fairway at the first landing area, the ideal lay-up shot is 160 yards to be safe from the water and leave you with approximately 80 yards to the front of the green. Hole #10…One of the longer par 4’s on the back side, the ideal shot is left of the big white oak in the fairway where the fairway opens up a bit beyond the tree. Although wetland hazards line the entire left side of the fairway, don’t bail out too far to the right-the water sneaks back into play as you get closer to the green. An approach shot played to the center of the green would be a wise choice to this elevated green guarded by water left, front, and right and pot bunkers on either side. Hole #11…This short yet tight par 4 is flanked on the left by wetland hazards and the right by water. The ideal tee shot is played (Black: 230 yds, Blue: 205 yds, White: 181 yds, and Gold: 152 yds) up the middle, leaving you 100 yards to the green. Although this deep and rolling green has no sand around it, the grass swales can be tricky! Be sure to check you pin sheet. Hole #12…Perhaps the most beautiful hole on the course, this rather long and tight par 4 offers a great risk/reward opportunity! The ideal tee shot is played over the left side of the fairway bunker, but out of bounds is left and water is down the right. Long hitters should aim at the greenside bunker and let it fly, but a tee shot left of the bunker may run through the fairway. The tee shot is much more difficult that the approach to this large, rather flat green. Along iron or fairway may be the wise choice from the tee. Hole #13… This is the shortest of the par 3’s and is essentially an island green with water left, front, and right! Don’t let the backdrop of century-old oaks sway your attention from the task at hand: avoiding the water and the two bunkers en route to the putting surface. Beware…the back right pin placement is a treacherous one… Hole #14…This is one of those holes where you won’t really know how to play it until you’ve actually played it a few times. One good plan of attack is a long iron or fairway wood played to the gap between the fairway bunker and the large oak beyond the end of the fairway. This short dogleg left par 4 is full of trickery from tee to green with water and a number of large oaks coming into play. The elevated green is guarded by sand front, water left, and trees right and behind; however, if you must miss the green, miss it long or right. Fact: a mid to long iron in the short grass won’t get you into trouble on this hole! Hole #15…This tight dogleg left is a dream for those who can work the ball right to left (and a nightmare for slicers)! Take note: if you can’t draw the ball, play an iron from the tee and make this a true three shot par 5. Two good right to left shots can reach this smallish green in two shots, but watch out for the 3 pot bunkers front, right, and left (and the water which sneaks back into play for pulled approach shots in the trees left of the green). Fingers of the lake find their way into play a few times along the left side of the fairway and the trees to the right are as menacing as they appear. Play your second shot lay-up beyond the group of small pines on the left to get around the corner, but watch out for the fairway bunker on the right. Hole #16…The longest of the par 3’s, this tight hole is guarded by water front and right, wetland hazards behind, and sand between the water and green. The only bailout area is the group of trees to the left, but the bunker may not be such a bad place to miss it either. Long tee shots are destined to a life of solitary confinement amongst the wetland hazards beyond the green. Check your pin sheet and find the right area of the green to avoid three putts on this green! Hole #17…Don’t let this short par 4 fool you. Wetland hazards line the entire left side from tee to green and water divides the fairway from the green (but out of sight from the tees). The smart play is to draw a fairway wood or long iron played (center of back tee box 245 yds, center of middle tee box: 210 yds, and center of front tee box: 180 yds) down the middle of the fairway, leaving a wedge to this small rolling green surrounded by trees and fronted by water. Hole #18…This handsome par 5 is the longest hole on the course, a straight-ahead challenge which demands accuracy from the tee! Wetland hazards line the entire right side of the hole and water comes into play along the left side of the first landing area and again on the right side of the second landing area and the front right portion of the green. Few people will find this to be a two shot par 5. The green is the largest on the course with contours, which demand that the approach shot be played to the correct location to avoid the “dead elephant” (large mound) in the middle of the green. Check you pin sheet and watch out for the deep bunker left and large wrap-around bunker behind.
